Cities Alliance will join Enabel's international conference on Climate Change adaptation and water on 25 and 26 April in Brussels.

Belgium’s development agency Enabel organises the conference Is climate change adaptation all about water? The two-day event will focus on the linkages between water, urbanisation, nature-based solutions, and Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE). It will showcase water experiences in Belgium and around the world.

The conference will highlight the role of water; in terms of basic services, risk factor and resource for the preservation of sustainable ecosystems; as key to future society development. The interface between the city and its hinterland is essential to ensure water supply. The establishment of a Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) nexus contributes to improve such basic services, strengthen the resilience of the socio-economic environment, and maintain a balance in the use of natural resources.

The event will also be a unique opportunity to hear from the youth's perspective and start a dialogue on how current innovation and actions will address the objectives of the '2050 vision' of our young generation.

The conference is part of the Belgian activities and dialogues related to the UN Water conference – New York 2023 and will bring on board teams from Africa, the Middle East, and Europe working on climate change adaptation and water.

Cities Alliance will be represented by Cities for Women programme lead Giulia Maci, on a panel on water as central element of urban resilience and nature-based solutions.

Registration is open until 14 April for in-person and online attendance.
