In response to the unprecedented global challenge of forced displacement, with a staggering 36.4 million refugees seeking refuge from crises worldwide, Cities Alliance actively participates in the Global Refugee Forum (GRF).

The Forum, taking place from 13 to 15 December in Geneva, Switzerland, stands as the world's largest international gathering on refugees. It serves as a pivotal platform for collective action to reshape global responses to refugee situations and practically implement the objectives outlined in the Global Compact on Refugees.

Focusing on easing pressures on host countries, enhancing refugee self-reliance, increasing access to third-country solutions, and improving conditions in countries of origin, the Forum provides a unique opportunity for states and stakeholders to make concrete pledges, share progress, highlight best practices, and collectively assess challenges and opportunities on the horizon.

The 2023 Forum, co-convened by influential states – Colombia, France, Japan, Jordan, and Uganda, and co-hosted by the Government of Switzerland and UNHCR, underscores its significance as a collaborative effort at the highest levels of global governance.
