New European Bauhaus - Women Shaping Spaces
Cities Alliance is partnering with the Women Shaping Spaces exhibition at the Festival of the New European Bauhaus (NEB), in Brussels from 9-13 April. This collaboration aligns with our approach to fostering inclusive and women-friendly public spaces in cities.
The exhibition, spotlighting women's contributions and challenges in shaping public spaces, is part of the Women of the NEB initiative, which aligns with the New European Bauhaus principles, aimed at inspiring positive change through inclusive, sustainable, and beautiful public spaces in urban areas.
With a focus on advancing discussions around gender equality, the Women of the NEB initiative aims to foster inclusivity and diversity, amplifying women's voices across various fields including the built environment, architecture, urbanism and design.
The New European Bauhaus is a creative and transdisciplinary movement from the European Commission bridging the Green Deal with the fabric of everyday life in cities across Europe. It aims to facilitate and steer social transformation along three intertwined values:
- Sustainability, from climate goals to circularity, zero pollution, and biodiversity
- Aesthetics, quality of experience and style beyond functionality
- Inclusion, from valuing diversity to securing accessibility and affordability.
The New European Bauhaus brings citizens, experts, businesses, and institutions together to reimagine sustainable living in Europe and beyond. In addition to creating a platform for experimentation and connection, the initiative also supports positive change by providing access to EU funding for beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive projects.
During the Festival, Women of the NEB will host a workshop on 12 April at 2 pm, providing a platform for women shaping cities and communities to share their insights and experiences. Some of the speakers include:
- Rozina Spinnoy, Bids Belgium
- Ewelina Jaskulska and Honorata Grzesikowska, Architecktoniczki
- Nourhan Bassam, the Gendered City
- Louisa Bravo, City Space Architecture
