Improving living conditions in cities requires integrated, locally adapted and applicable solutions that focus on the needs of vulnerable populations.

Against this backdrop, GIZ launched in 2019 the Cities CHALLENGE on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, BMZ, under the motto 2030 Agenda meets Urban Climate Action. This ideas competition is now entering its second round,  the Cities CHALLENGE 2.0 with a focus on Building Vibrant and Resilient Neighbourhoods

This event will bring about key considerations on the approach supported by the results and lessons learned of the first projects from Ecuador, Jordan, Namibia and Serbia. It will also intoduce 2021's winning initiatives from Bangladesh, India, South Africa and Mexico.

Experts from GIZ, BMZ, UN-Habitat and Cities Alliance, together with representatives from the selected projects selected will share their perspectives on the initiative.

Anacláudia Rossbach of Cities Alliance will share insights on small-scale projects as catalysts for policy changes at the local and global level.
