This UN-HABITAT report calls for the global community to pay attention to the plight of the urban youth.

This UN-HABITAT report calls for the global community to pay attention to the plight of the urban youth. The findings suggest that young people have unequal access to basic services such as housing, education and employment, which leads to the youth not being able to have meaningful work or study opportunities.

The findings of the report are based on data from UN-HABITAT’s Global Urban Indicator Database, as well as surveys of, and focus group discussions with, selected representative groups of young people from the cities of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Mumbai (India), Kingston (Jamaica), Nairobi (Kenya) and Lagos (Nigeria).
