Hanoi Consultative Group Meeting Update

Dear Consultative Group Members,

 

Please find attached the UPDATED Weekly Schedule of Events as well as the CG Meeting Agenda. We have moved the EXCO meeting to the evening of 30 October to allow extra time for CG discussions. Please note the Session on national Urban Policies, which we have scheduled for the morning of Thursday 1st November, immediately prior to the CG meeting itself. This will allow members the opportunity to share views on this important substantive issue which was incorporated into the new Charter. This will also allow for further discussion on tools such as Urbanisation Reviews, which were discussed at our last meeting in Maputo. A short background paper framing this debate will be circulated prior to the meetings.  

 

Please find attached a Visa Letter Template for use with your Visa application. For extra support with your Visa application, please contact Sid Henderson (shenderson@citiesalliance.org), and she and our Vietnam partners will try their best to assist you. Please submit for your Visa as soon as possible.

 

The Secretariat has negotiated a room rate of USD140/night (plus tax) at the Hanoi Hilton Opera Hotel which is located in the Hoan Kiem District in downtown Hanoi. Please make your hotel reservation using the Promotion Code: GWORB

 

Both the EXCO and the CG meetings will be held at the hotel. The Vietnam Urban Forum will be held at the National Convention Center, and our site visits will be to Viet Tri City.

We will circulate the bulk of the documentation on Friday, 12th October. The Report dealing with the findings on the Hosting and Location of the Cities Alliance will be circulated the following Friday, 19th of October 2012.  

 

All documents will be uploaded to the Cities Alliance Member Site, and we will provide one easy-to-download pdf containing all of the meeting files.

 

As agreed at previous meetings, the Secretariat will not provide CG meeting binders, so kindly please come prepared.
