el derecho a la ciudad

The precarious living conditions of many urban residents have given rise to numerous social movements under the banner of the right to the city.

These experiences show that this political emblem is a double instrument that allows both the emergence of new social utopias for a better future, and the development of alternative proposals for the production of cities and human settlements based on the agency of all inhabitants without discrimination, by giving a particular voice to those affected by exclusion and marginalization.

This document seeks to explore the contents of the right to the city based on the struggles, experiences and mobilizations that have taken place in recent decades.

Quote

"What is the right to the city ? Is it a political claim that expresses the utopia of certain urban groups who want another possible city?”

“Or is it a programmatic instrument that makes it possible to advance towards fundamental transformations of the current urban model?”"
