Cities Alliance is looking for a Partnerships Specialist focused on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Europe and Central Asia (ECA) regions, based in Brussels, Belgium, with frequent travel to these regions.
Working under the Senior Urban Specialist responsible for the MENA and ECA regions, the successful candidate will support business development initiatives including fundraising and proposal development, manage stakeholder relations and contribute to advocacy in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and secure funding opportunities across various sectors and engage with key regional and international stakeholders to develop and promote Cities Alliance’s mission and agenda in the ECA and MENA regions.
- Develop proposals and project concepts for potential new projects in collaboration with Cities Alliance’s and UNOPS’ Country Representatives and Project Managers.
- Drive the creation of partnership opportunities with stakeholders in the European Mediterranean, ECA and MENA regions aligned with Cities Alliance strategic objectives - including membership into the Cities Alliance.
- Participate and coordinate meetings with donors, partners and stakeholders, and build a strong network across the ECA, MENA, and Mediterranean regions.
- Support communication efforts to boost advocacy and outreach, and ensure all communication and reporting materials are up-to-date and aligned with Cities Alliance's goals.
- Undertake frequent travel across the ECA and MENA regions to establish new partnerships, manage existing ones, and support the implementation of regional projects.
Requirements:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) preferably in international relations, political science, economics, business administration, or a related field, is required.
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the related fields with an additional two (2) years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in partnership development, donor engagement, and resource mobilisation is required with a Master's degree.
- Proven experience working with bilateral and multilateral donors, development banks, or philanthropic foundations is required.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Fluency in French is highly desirable. Knowledge of Arabic would be an asset.
Contract
- Individual Contractor Agreement (IICA 2/ ICS 10)
- 2-year contract.
