The 9th Annual Cities Alliance Public Policy Forum was held in Barcelona January 20-21.
Hosted by the City of Barcelona and the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), this year's Forum focused on local government perspectives on the effectiveness of development aid.
In a press release issued after the conclusion of the Forum, participants highlighted the need for coordination at all levels — local, national and supranational — in order to combat poverty globally.
They also stressed the importance of bringing in local authorities as real partners in urban development.
In addition, Cities Alliance members announced their commitment to convening a biannual stakeholders forum to discuss urban policy development. The event will be organised jointly by UCLG and the Cities Alliance.
