UN-HABITAT Governing Council Meets 11-15 April

It is the first Governing Council to be held under the leadership of Executive Director Joan Clos, during the course of which he will be expected to spell out his vision for the organisation.
The UN-HABITAT Governing Council is holding its 23rd session 11-15 April 2011 in Nairobi under the theme of “Sustainable Urban Development through Expanding Equitable Access to Land, Housing, Basic Services and Infrastructure.”
 
It is the first Governing Council to be held under the leadership of Joan Clos, during the course of which he will be expected to spell out his vision for the organisation.
 
Clos, a two-term Mayor of Barcelona and Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade for the Spanish Government, was elected Executive Director of UN-HABITAT in October of last year.
 
This past March, he opened the Urban Development Strategies in the Mediterranean conference co-sponsored by the Cities Alliance in Barcelona.
