25 June 2010

Dear Executive Committee,

I believe this should be one of the last pieces of correspondence before the meeting in Paris. I have two issues:

1. Restructuring of the World Bank Development Grant Facility.

I have prepared for your information a very succinct note brining to your attention the decision of the World Bank Board (10th June 2010) to restructure the Development Grant Facility (DGF), from which the Bank's annual contribution to the CA's core funds have been made. The decision to close Window 1, and to require a strategy to exit from DGF funding within three years (FY13) applies across the Board to all Window 1 programmes, including the Cities Alliance.

For those interested, I will be happy to circulate the larger Board paper, but have attached a very short summary of the decision:

EXCO DGF Memo 25 June 2010 (60 KB

2. Logistics for the UNEP office in Paris:

Upon your arrival to the UNEP Offices, please bring a valid, photo ID and present yourself at the reception desk and ask for Soraya Smaoun.  There will be signs at the entrance and the meeting will take place on the 5th floor. The front desk will have been briefed beforehand.
Sid Henderson's mobile number is +1-202-744-2769, should you need assistance.
The Secretariat will now be staying at the Hotel Bassano (http://www.hotel-bassano.com/), +33 1 56 62 18 18 and will be arriving in Paris on 6 July.

It now seems that the predictions of some EXCO members about the likely participants in the football World Cup semi-final match on the 7th July were not extremely accurate. We will continue to monitor the situation further, over the coming weekend.

Best,
