Cities Alliance in Action: Transforming Mumbai into a World-Class City

With support from the Cities Alliance and the World Bank, Mumbai has been undertaking a nearly ten-year initiative to transform itself into a world-class city with a high standard of living for all citizens.

The 40-plus projects in the initiative have been overseen by the Mumbai Transformation Support Unit (MTSU), which serves as an interface between the government and all stakeholders. The MTSU is a good example of how a multi-stakeholder planning process can prioritise activities based on a shared vision and achieve citywide results.
