Brock Carlton Named New FCM Chief Executive Officer

Français

OTTAWA, Aug. 20 – Brock Carlton has been selected as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).

Mr. Carlton has been with FCM for 16 years, most recently as Director of the International Centre for Municipal Development (ICMD).

In making the announcement to FCM staff, President Gord Steeves said that selecting from among some 40 highly qualified candidates was difficult, but the selection committee was united in the choice of Mr. Carlton.

“My colleagues and I are confident that Brock Carlton has the skills to lead the organization and the rapport with staff needed to make FCM the people-focused organization we want it to be,” said Steeves. “Certainly we know staff are behind him – when we made the announcement they gave him a standing ovation.”

Steeves also thanked COO Jean-François Trépanier for his leadership during the transition as Acting CEO, as well as FCM management and staff for their contributions.

“FCM is one of Canada’s most effective organizations at translating grassroots concerns and priorities into national policy and action,” said Carlton. “I’ve seen this in my work with international development and I look forward to making us even more effective on the national stage.”
