The Seventh Cities Alliance Public Policy Forum

The seventh Cities Alliance Public Policy Forum was held in Washington DC on Tuesday November 28, 2006. Focusing on the theme, "Environment, Poverty and Development in and Urbanizing World", the event featured presentations by Kai Lee and Danielle Nierenberg of the Worldwatch Institute, Mary Jane Ortega of the World Mayors Council on Climate Change and Solly Angel, Professor of Urban Planning at New York University. Case studies highlighted urban upgrading activities in Salvador da Bahia (Brazil) and the Mumbai (India) transformation process.

The Public Policy Forum is traditionally held in conjunction with the annual meetings of the Cities Alliance Consultative Group and engages city practitioners, national government representatives, development partners and the research community to discuss challenges and opportunities of an urbanizing world. This year's Consultative Group Meetings were held from November 29 to December 1, 2006.
