India and Japan ink pact on Urban Development


The DailyIndia.com reports that India and Japan formalized their agreement to work closely on urban development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in May 2007. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has already loaned over US$1.36 billion for the Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System and additional assistance for new corridors under Delhi Metro Phase II and other metro projects are under discussion. JBIC is a Cities Alliance member.
