This high-level dialogue on Building Partnerships for Resilience and promoting investments for a just transition will bring ministers, city leaders and non-state actors together to explore key strategies for integrating adaptation and resilience into city planning and design. The dialogue will explore integrating climate change’s physical risks into urban planning and investment decision-making. It will also delve into adaptation planning for existing cities and buildings.

Organized within the framework of the Buildings and Climate Global Forum, the event is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion and the Ministry of Energy Transition, France, alongside the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Guiding questions:

  1. How does partnership building facilitate the rollout of policies and the implementation of resilience programs on the ground?
  2. What methodologies can be employed to integrate physical risks of climate change into (sub)national planning?
  3. How can existing city infrastructure, especially buildings, be adapted to climate change challenges?
  4. In striving for resilience, how can we ensure a just transition?
