Tunisia and its regions and cities of the interior are particularly vulnerable to climate change. Localising effective mitigation and adaptation measures holds the potential for a green and climate-resilient economic transition. Tunisia’s interior cities can be at the forefront of these efforts.

Cities Alliance supports an energy audit of 20,000 light points in Beja, Jendouba, and Tataouine, providing decision-makers and technical staff with the information and recommendations they need to budget for and prioritise targeted actions to minimise energy consumption and improve the quality and safety of public lighting. Moreover, Cities Alliance also directly supports the installation of energy-efficient LED streetlights.

More and better street lighting can improve the quality and safety of public spaces for more than 200,000 inhabitants, and women and girls in particular. In addition, municipalities can reduce their electricity bills, allowing them to reallocate funds to other priority areas.
