Local authorities are represented at the Cities Alliance by United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and Metropolis.
About UCLG
United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) represents and defends the interests of local governments on the world stage, regardless of the size of the communities they serve. UCLG’s members include individual cities and national associations of local governments, which represent all the cities and local governments in a single country. Its membership includes over 1,000 cities across 95 countries and 112 Local Government Associations (LGAs). UCLG joined the Cities Alliance in 2000.

About Metropolis
The World Association of Major Metropolises (Metropolis) is an international association of global cities working towards developing solutions to issues affecting large cities such as urban planning and development. Metropolis also represents regions and metropolitan areas at the global level. It serves as the metropolitan section of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG).
